Gentleness

"There is great force hidden in a gentle command. " George Herbert.

To
be gentle, means to be sensitive and kind to people around you. It means being considerate and too loud but instead lady-like and helping people when they are in need. For example when someone is sad or in need of help because someone else hurt them or something in their life just isn't working out right. We shouldn't laugh or tease that person, because doing is probably just going to make them feel even worse than how they already do then. Instead, we should give a helping hand and talk to them, this will help encourage them and make them feel better. Besides, if you were to help someone and just see that smile on their face after you did, I'm sure it'll definitely send a bigger one back on your face knowing that you did good, I know it would to me!:)

Respect

"There is no respect for others without humility in one's self." Henri Frederic Amiel.

Ha
ving respect for someone means looking up to them and being mindful of your actions and words. It means disciplining oneself to be able to behave and act well infront of a person or a group of people. To many people, when they here the word respect, they think of their parents or their principle or someone important and of a higher class than them. Like so, whenever we are around these 'important' people, we should always be resepectful and obey them or listen to what they say or tell us to do. Respect also means agreeing with things that, even if you have always diagreed with, a person of higher class tells you do. You have to be mindful of the differences around the world and accept it to be respectful and be ok with every culture, race or religion there is, if not, people in that particular group that you don't really like might feel offended or hurt but what you say or do.

All-round Excellence

"Whoever I am, or whatever I am doing, some kind of excellence is within my reach."John W. Gardner.

Being all-round excellent means being and doing the best at everything you do whether you like it or not. It means striving and working hard to achieve the best you can. One example would be when you know that after the many tests or bascially any thing in life that you failed in, the final result, even with one more chance left, is not going to be good. You still try to do the best you can to achieve YOUR best; it doesn't matter if you don't in the top 5 and aren't the best compared to all your friends. All that matters is that you are YOUR best for YOU and in no matter what you do you put in your very very best. It's better to do your best in whatever opportunities you can grasp then do your usual average and regret later, that way, you stand out from the crowd.

Commitment

"The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor."Vincent Lombardi.

To me, commitment means being devoted and faithful to something or someone. It means never giving up on something you choose to stick next to for a long time and always being there for it even when troubles come one's way. One very prominent example that most of us students would have to go through is our CCAs or any outside of school activities and programmes that we have. When we join a CCA or participate in an activity outside of school, we have to make sure that we will always attend it and do the jobs and work assigned to us. When something else less important suddenly comes up and you badly want to go for it instead of your CCA, you shouldn't. Because, when you joined the CCA, you had made a commitment to attend it all the time no matter what. Commitment also means perserverance; Lasting through those times when you wish you hadn't made that commitment but you know that it was som
ething you chose to do and hence have to be devoted to it.

ENTHUSIASM

"Life's blows cannot break a person whose spirit is warmed at the fire of enthusiasm." Norman Vincent Peale.

Enthusiasm to me is being out there and just giving your best at everything. Remaining optimistic no matter what situation and encouraging others be happy and in to what they are doing. For example, after a long day of school, you find out that you have to chores or homework of a subject you don't really like. If you were just to have a lousy and 'can't be bothered' attitude, you would suffer doing chores and homework but if you were to be enthusiastic and excited about it, you would fine yourself actually enjoying yourself doing the things that you'd usually never want to do.
Therefore, having enthusiasm can also help you have a positive attitude towards many things in life and for example, if your friend
or a sibling were to see that joyful and excited attitude in you, you might even influence them to do the same and in the end, everyone is happy!
